When fall arrives, you'll inevitably find me in the kitchen. There is something about the cooler autumn temps that make me crave baking, and creating wonderfully fragrant fall treats that fill the house with their aromas. This homemade apple butter recipe is so simple since you just simmer the apples and pop into the oven-and it smells so good while it's baking. I've made this recipe for years and now the family requests it when autumn comes around. I like serve it on biscuits, toasted sourdough over fresh goat cheese, or it makes a sweet addition to a charcuterie board.
I love this apple peeler/corer for making apple prep a breeze. One step and it peels, cores, AND slices apples in seconds. It will easily go through pounds of apples in a jiffy (and it works for potatoes too). I'll link it here.

This is what the apple mixture will look like after simmering with the cider, before baking. It should be an applesauce consistency. Stir once an hour while baking for even browning.

This is how it looks after baking. I over-baked this batch a little so I would take it out of the oven before it gets quite this dark. I'll link the 8 oz jars I use here.

Yum! I'd love to hear your comments if you try it! Be sure to tag me on social media in your photos!
