Before you begin, I suggest to read through the list of ideas to determine which supplies you'll need, then let's get organizing! You may be motivated to organize the entire kitchen next, so you'll want to check out my post 18 Effective Kitchen Organization Ideas Transform Your Cluttered Space Into a Welcoming Haven

1. Purge-seriously though, do an inventory, categorize, and determine what supplies you'll need

The first thing is to get everything out of your deep pantry cabinets and do a purge. Every item that is expired-trash. Old appliances that no longer work-trash. Old appliances that work but you no longer use-donate. This way you can begin with a clean slate and now you have an idea of what you're working with.

2. Can holders

Next, I like to start with can holders because it makes an immediate big impression. With these corralled, you have more free space to work and you'll no longer be knocking over stacks of green beans!

3. Glass or plastic containers

Also, I highly recommend buying a set of glass or plastic canister containers. Let me tell you why. I love pouring or scooping from a container vs. a paper bag, specifically flour or sugar, because it's much less messy. I love that you can see if they are nearing empty, being able to glance at them to know if you need to restock while making a grocery list is a huge win. And there are tons of choices in these, but keep in mind to verify they are food safe and free of any toxic chemicals. So if this is a priority for you, consider glass options over plastic.

4. Labels

And trust me! You will use this label maker all the time because it's perfect for canisters in the pantry, spice jars, laundry room, medicine cabinet, bathroom, and in the garage.

5. Turntables

Turntables are great for way to be able to visualize items, and it makes them easily accessible. I recommend these for cooking oils, oil spray, etc.

6. Spice, spice, baby

While spice jars are the little troublemakers of the kitchen, there are a few options when it comes to containing your spice collections, and it basically comes down to how much space you have. Additionally, if you have an unused drawer that works well, an over the door rack as pictured, or using a turntable here works well too.

7. Pull-outs will double (or triple) your space

Basically all cabinets have wasted vertical space, they key is USING it! Especially the deep cabinets in a built-in pantry. Add two or three of these pull-outs and utilize that vertical space, AND it gives you complete visibility of everything in the very back. There is nowhere to hide now!

8. More clear containers

Instead of having opened boxes and containers in your pantry, I recommend using these containers to group food items. Such as one for snacks, one for nuts, one for granola bars. etc. This keeps them easily accessible, visible, and eliminates all the ugly boxes in your pantry which is altogether a win!

9. Risers (for that wasted vertical space)

And lastly, you're undoubtedly tired of hearing me say it, because there is so much space wasted vertically in cabinets. Risers are another option if you can't do the pull-out drawers.

Having a decluttered kitchen and pantry is a major flex, so don't let a chaotic kitchen get in the way of your culinary dreams. Take control today with our helpful organization ideas for deep pantry cabinets!
