To begin, evaluate if and where you need extra storage space. Most laundry rooms are cramped and by utilizing the walls to add extra shelving, it will give you so much more room to store and organize all the supplies needed for laundry.

Adding a countertop over the washer and dryer as shown in the photo above, will provide you more space to organize supplies, room for storage baskets, and a great place to fold clothes as well.

Floating shelves are the most aesthetically appealing and come in a variety of sizes and finishes, such as these solid white oak shelves.

Now that you have your extra storage space or shelving sorted, its time to organize all the stuff that accumulates in a laundry room. I like to use baskets in my home for organization because they are aesthetically pleasing yet functional, which is exactly what is needed for a laundry room. Baskets are so versatile because you can find ones that complement any decor, while helping you organize supplies on shelves and hampers to carry laundry room to room.

Every laundry room needs a place that allows you to hang clothes to dry. As shown in the photo above, one simple solution is hanging a tension curtain rod between existing cabinets. This is a great use of existing space, while being both easy, and affordable.

When you simply have no space available to utilize for hanging clothes, these hanging solutions are a must-have. Not only are they space-savers, but some of them are also portable, which would be great for dorm rooms or shared living spaces as you can take them with you when laundry is finished. Look for hanging options that attach over the door, slide onto existing shelf, or that are retractable.

After the pragmatic part of revamping your laundry room by creating extra storage space, organizing, and finding solutions for hanging clothes to dry, comes the fun part. Now you can label baskets, create displays detergent and supplies, plus add decorative touches to your room. I've listed some items that I hope you find as useful as I do in keeping things clutter-free and organized.

Since detergent and softener is used more frequently it makes sense to leave them out for convenience sake but that doesn't mean they have to be unattractive. These products will give you beautiful ideas to shop for ways to display detergents, plus they come with matching decorative labels. Laundry rooms can be a challenge to find a balance between pretty and functional but these sets make it easy.

This minimalist label set for laundry organization is great for labeling baskets, containers, in the laundry but it also includes labels for cleaning and linen cabinets as well.

I love my mesh laundry bag 7 piece set and you will too. These are fantastic for delicates or swimsuits so that straps don't tangle, or pads don't fall out. If you don't have some already you NEED these.

Another option for detergent organization are these clear acrylic laundry room storage containers with labels that work well for the laundry pods with are bulkier.

This metal laundry room sign adds a little cuteness to keep your laundry room for being boring. 🙂

Most laundry rooms are strictly utilitarian, making it difficult to find a balance between functional and fetching. The key is keeping everything accessible so it is easy to use but not visible. I hope these ideas have inspired you to give your laundry room a makeover, making laundry day a little brighter. I also hope that after reading this you agree, laundry IS sorted!
